I found an article a few weeks ago that I think you may find interesting. Scientists researching Alzheimer's decided to try a drug used to treat skin cancer, called bexarotene, and it's shown promise in mice. Within 72 hours it REVERSED the amyloid beta buildup by either 25% (according to Scientific American) or 50% (New Scientist). Of course, it's very possible it won't have the same affect in humans, but clinical trials are supposed to start in a few months. Let's hope for the best!
The Scientific American article has more information.
