Liquid Body Armor

This article is of particular interest to me because my fiance' is a Marine and currently in Afghanistan. Right now, our military uses what is called "kevlar," and 40 layers of it, only covering the chest and the head. This technology of liquid body armor opens so many doors and a way to protect our military, President, and other people with security concerns. One of the liquids involved is shear-thickening fluid (STF), which behaves like a solid when it encounters mechanical stress. It's so unreal how this stuff can just harden and protect someone when contacted with a bullet or shear! http://science.howstuffworks.com/liquid-body-armor.htm
