Concept Maps - theoretical basis for their use in teaching and learning

I found this additional resource (including an additional piece of free software) that gives background from the field of educational psychology on the use Concept Maps. Using them in the way described in this paper (where there are linking phrases between each node and a hierarchical arrangement of all the nodes) is probably better as a final product, but not as useful in the early stages for brainstorming as the "mindmap" idea I discussed in class. If you like the looks of the software described in this paper, it is also free and I would accept your final Concept Map assignment as a CmapTools file (in addition to the Spiderscribe.net or Xmind formats we discussed).
