I found this article and thought it was very interesting, especially after our discussion yesterday with Mr. Phipps regarding the Transhumanist movement. This article was published 2 days ago, and speaks to the technological advances we have made through research.
"Zoe" is a virtual talking head and is "the most expressive controllable avatar ever created, replicating human emotions with unprecedented realism". One of the most interesting aspects of this article, in my opinion, is the potential application for "Zoe".. about half-way through the article they discuss the possibility of utilizing "Zoe" to help teach autistic children to read emotions. Obviously, this technology can be used recreationally for gaming, communication, etc., but I think it is amazing that there is a potential avenue to use technology like "Zoe" for something meaningful.
